Slow Playing
Slow playing is checking a very strong hand, like AA, in order
to win more bets on later betting rounds. Most times slow playing
a strong hand is a mistake. You are giving your opponents a free
card. Free cards can often beat a strong starting hand.
The only time slow playing is recommended is when you flop the
best hand, like a flush (and you have AK of that suit in your hand).
In this case, if you bet, you are likely to have everyone fold behind
you. By slowplaying, one of the more aggressive players might try
to steal the pot. You have gained a few bets.
Most players slow play their strong hands too often.
Texas Hold Em sounds very simple, however, it takes a lot of time
at the table to pick up the nuances of the game. This site was created
to help the average player improve their game. We'll help you with
which starting hands to play,
and how to bet. We'll show you how position
impacts your starting hand selection, how to calculate
pot odds, and wheter to call, raise, or fold. We'll help you
determine your poker strategy.
One that you will use to make more money. We'll even identify
trap hands, which look good, but usually cost you big money.
So... shuffle up and deal!
